Hurricane Ike caused a lot of destruction - but it also created something - a mystery!
A mystery ship was left on the shore after Hurricane Ike.
The ship was left uncovered on the beach of Fort Morgan, Alabama. It looked like it had been burned. No one knew that it had lain buried on the beach for years, until Hurricane Ike exposed it.
The ship is probably from the Civil War. Locals are trying to get historians to study the ship before it gets destroyed by mother nature, now that it is in the open.
According to Ground Report:
The mysterious ship has been uncovered by hurricanes before, most recently by Ivan in 2004, but never has so much of the buried vessel been visible as there is now. The remains are being called a “mystery ship” because nobody really knows what it was used for or how it came to rest on the Fort Morgan, AL beach. Historians think it was a blockade-runner during the civil war.
